However, some White Tequilas do come “rest” lightly in oak barrels, but for a maximum of 60 days, achieving a pale green shade.

Tequila Reposado

Reposado in Spanish evidently means “rested“. In fact, Tequila is left to "rest" from two months to a year before being bottled. It takes on a golden or straw yellow hue, thanks to the oak barrels in which it is aged. 

The type of barrel The flavor of Tequila from each distillery changes, but you can generally expect a soft flavour with notes of oak. 

Tequila Añejo

Aged to perfection for complex flavours. Aged longer, generally one to three years, it is known for its deep golden hue. Añejo has a silky, rich flavor of vanilla, caramel and cream, it also adds small floral notes that create a smooth tequila. Intended to be sipped neat or served over ice.
